From the moment you power it up, its 1/1.5″ CMOS sensor makes a strong impression, the large sensor brings noticeably more light into frame, giving images a natural depth and richness that feels more akin to a compact camera than a typical webcam. This is paired with an unexpectedly wide f/1.8 aperture, which helps deliver a pleasing background blur and strong low-light performance.Video quality is clean and detailed. The Lyra captures true 4K at 30 fps, and even when it’s scaled down to 1080p, the sharpness and clarity remain very impressive. Movement is smooth, thanks to its intelligent Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), which reacts quickly and keeps the subject razor sharp without hunting or jitter.One of the most compelling aspects is its AI features. The auto-framing and tracking system ensure that, whether you’re presenting, pacing, or gesturing, the camera stays locked on you. It feels very intuitive, much better than having to manually reposition or worry about being off-centre. The exposure and white balance also adapt smartly to changing lighting conditions, making setups in varying environments less of a headache.Audio integration is another highlight. The Lyra includes a built-in receiver for Hollyland’s LARK A1 wireless mic system, delivering 48 kHz / 24-bit audio. The clarity is excellent, and the intelligent noise cancellation does a good job at suppressing background distractions, so your voice remains clean and natural even in noisy environments. On top of that, there’s a direct mic connection, simplifying the setup as you don’t need separate receivers cluttering your workspace.The software, HollyStudio, gives real control. You can tweak focus, ISO, white balance, brightness, contrast, and more. Even better, you can set up and recall up to ten preset framing positions, ideal for switching quickly between your talking head, a whiteboard, or a product close-up. For video creators, being able to bounce between angles with one click is hugely convenient.There’s also a physical privacy shutter, which feels solid and gives peace of mind when the camera isn’t in use. The magnetic mounting system is elegant, you can use it in either landscape or portrait mode depending on your needs, and it’s easy to reposition.Overall, the Lyra feels like a bridge between a studio-grade capture setup and a plug-and-play webcam. It’s packed with thoughtful features, high-end imaging, and flexible audio, making it a very capable choice for live streaming, video calls, gaming, or content creation.

I must say I am disappointed with this outing from Hollyland but I think the issues I have can eventually be fixed with software so watch out for an edit when the update drops.It is a great quality camera and lens and the shutter closure mechanism is very simple to use.My issues started when I tried to edit the settings on my Mac while I was on a call. Immediately the output went all green and could not be fixed until I changed to the in built webcam, closed the Hollyland app and then switched back to the webcam. ALSO I found that the audio sync was at least half a second behind when using the wireless mic.When I was setting up the wireless mic it wasn’t clear that it was already paired and I spent a lot of time trying to figure it out only to realise I just needed to turn it on normally rather than in pairing mode. It would be good if this was explained in the instructions rather than guiding you to attempt pairing.There was no QR code to scan to get to the software as well. I had to use google to find it.Once you get it set how you like it and you take the issues out of the equation it is a very nice webcam and even looks better than using my iPhone 17 Pro Max as a webcam too.
