Love my new NAS! I installed ZimaOS and then Unraid and it worked flawlessly. The build is metal and feels premium. Energy consumption is low and the 8 core 16 threads CPU is plenty enough for virtualization, docker and media playback.Pros:- 4 HDD bays let you have a good RAID setup with ample storage.- The two NVMEs can be used as a pool for Read/Write cache or for fast storage.- The inclusion of an adapter for the WiFi slot let you use a 2030 NVME to boot from or for storage.- 2.5Gbps Ethernet NICs and the option to use the USB3 ports with additional 5Gbps or 2.5Gbps adapters if needed.Cons:- No NAS OS included. You will need to provide and setup your own i.e. Proxmox, TrueNAS, ZimaOS, OMV, or Unraid.- No USB4 or Oculink to connect external GPUs.- No Intel QuickSync but it will transcode media without a sweat. AV1 will be decoded by CPU not GPU, not really a problem for this CPU.

The Aoostar WTR Pro with the AMD R7 5825U has been a great addition to my setup. For such a small device, it delivers a lot of performance. It easily handles multiple applications without slowing down, likely due to the 8 cores. I run Home Assistant, databases, and some heavier automation tools on it, and it has been rock solid so far.The build quality is excellent. The aluminum case feels sturdy, cooling is efficient, and the system runs very quietly. It looks sleek enough to keep on a desk, but is small enough to hide away if you prefer. Between the number of ports, dual NICs, and storage options, it offers a lot of flexibility that most mini PCs of this size do not.The BIOS is simple and reliable. It does not have every advanced setting you might see on larger systems, but it gives you what you need and works without issues. The setup was smooth, and I was able to get everything running quickly.For the Techies:Running Proxmox on this has been a breeze. I’ve stacked multiple VMs and containers (Home Assistant, Scrypted, MariaDB, EMQX, etc.), and it stays stable, cool, and efficient. The dual NICs are handy for networking experiments, and power draw stays low even under load. It may not outpace the latest Ryzen or Intel chips, but as a compact and energy-efficient homelab box, it is an excellent choice.Bottom Line:This system offers a great mix of power, efficiency, and size. It works well as a compact desktop replacement, a small server, or a homelab workhorse. Definitely worth considering if you want something quiet and reliable with enough muscle to handle serious workloads.
